What is the State Medical Commission for the Assessment of Health Condition and Working Ability (Commision)?
The Commission is an institution of the Ministry of Welfare.
The Commission shall be chaired by the Head.
What does the Commission do?
The Commission carries out disability or working capacity expertise for a person with physical or mental health disorders.
The Commission can determine the 1st, 2nd or 3rd disability group for a person or not determine the disability.
Disability groups 1 and 2 are for people who cannot or who are very difficult to take care of themselves.
Disability group 3 is for people who also need help, but they can do a lot on their own without the help of other people.
A disabled person shall be given a disability certificate.
Children under 18 may also have a certain disability, but they do not have a defined disability group.
A disabled person can receive a disability pension or benefit, a variety of other services and benefits.
Where is the Commission located?
The Commission administration and Riga department are located on Ventspils Street 53, Riga.
Commission employees also work in other Latvian cities: Gulbene, Rezekne, Daugavpils, Jekabpils, Jelgava, Valmiera, Kuldiga, Liepaja.

The application may be sent in a mail to any division of the Commission in Latvia.
The application can be submitted using the e-service.
The application may be submitted signed with a secure electronic signature to an e-mail pasts@vdeavk.gov.lv.
What is the Commission's customer service time?
The commission's customer service working hours in Riga, Jelgava, Gulbene, Rēzekne, Daugavpils, Jēkabpils, Valmiera and Liepāja are on Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Friday closed.
The Commission's customer service working time in Kuldiga on Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday ranges from 8:00 a.m. to 16:00 on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
